Uh oh, the Steam sales are here…
Now, admittedly I’ve actually felt a little indifferent to their sales of late, and generally feel that I’ve already bought all of the games which I want, but it would seem that I’m falling back into the trap a little and bought a few tidbits here and there already.
How about yourselves? Have you grabbed anything good yet?
With this week’s gaming rig, coming from Flexxible, my little queue of TSA rig submissions has come back down to zero. So before I hand the microphone over, I hope that there’s someone out there who spots that I’m now going to have to go cap in hand next Saturday without your submissions.
On the first photo is the set up of the TV, PS3, DVD, Blu-Ray and Stereo set. The TV is a 42” Samsung, I’ve also got a Sony Blu-Ray player and the best past of that combination is that both the Blu-ray player and the TV upscale DVD. It means that DVDs get a double upscaling and it’s nearly impossible to see the difference between a DVD and a Blu-ray! It can almost only be noticed by the subtitles, which are a little bigger than on a Blu-ray, and the sound quality.
Of course there’s a PS3. I don’t have an Xbox 360 as I don’t really like the exclusive titles of the console. They’re just not my kind of thing, I didn’t really like Halo or Forza for instance. I do really love Fable though, and that was the only game that nearly made me buy a 360.
Now I can’t wait for the PS4 and already got one pre-ordered with Battlefield 4, Watch Dogs (Dedsec Edition), and Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag (Black Chest Edition). The PS4 is going to be put under the TV on the left side when it arrives, and I will put green neon light under it and blue neon light under the PS3. The idea is that when I’m playing PS4 the green light will come from under the machine and when playing PS3 the blue light will come from under the machine. Maybe when it’s done I’ll send a photo of it working!
Though I’m really anticipating the arrival of PS4 that doesn’t mean that I will abandon my PS3. I still have some game I need to play on that thing. I’ve also still got a few PS3 game releases I’m looking forward to like Beyond: Two Souls, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD collection, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Dark Souls 2. Although, my most anticipated game at the moment would be Mirror’s Edge 2 for the PS4, the first one is still one of my favourite games off all-time and was also the first game I got there.
On the second picture is a display cabinet in which I have set up some of the game statues I’ve collected, in there are the statues of Crysis 2, Aliens: Colonial Marines, God of War: Ascension, Ghost Recon: Future Solder, Darksiders 2, Assassin’s Creed 2, Skyrim, Infamous 2 and Mortal Kombat. There are more on their way, as I’ve bought the Tomb Raider 2013 Statue, Splatterhouse Mask Statue, Far Cry 3 Statue and one of Assassin’s Creed 3. I really like the statues from the Collector’s Editions and try to get them as cheap as possible as they are mostly very expensive. Money doesn’t grow on a tree you know.
On the third photo is a part of my PS3 games collection and Blu-ray collection. Way too many games to play with so little time! I did see almost every Blu-ray movie I have though.
The final photo shows a work in progress. Where some women can go completely nuts about a walk-in closet, I’m building a walk-in entertainment closet, a complete room filled with all the DVD and Blu-ray movies, every PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP and Gamecube game I own. I’m also including books, guides and CD’s in there I think, but it’s not really finished yet.
As a little post-script, Flexx added an extra little something, which I can’t resist sharing:
PS: I hope the English is okay, I’m not from England but from the Netherlands. but I did my best too make ass little mistakes as possible.
That little blooper made me chuckle quietly to myself, but on the whole your English is fantastic, Flexxible. Of course, I’ve made edits for this post, but I can think of a few native speakers who are much worse…
If you don’t want me to have to resume my regular Saturday barrage, please use the submission form below, get in touch with me on Twitter at @teflon, or just send me an email out of the blue to [email protected]
I think I can hear crickets, there’s so little activity for this section this week. All this good weather and a lack major game releases is clearly not a combination which induces a lot of accomplishments!
Even so, B_Cambo and Bambo_19 worked hard to cement the confusing similarities between their names, and merge themselves into one, as they both managed to get The Last of Us’ platinum this week. It’s something which I need to get back to myself, as it has been a good couple of weeks since I made any progress on my Survivor run.
I have however, like Youles, continued to sink time into the multiplayer side of things. So I finished my Firefly run alongside Bodachi, whilst Youles joined Topgearsam in finishing the Survivor side. Time to embark on a second 12 week sojourn in the warzone.
Cam_manutd went way back to Killzone 2, and put in the man hours last week to earn himself the Grand Valor Cross. 25 hours of gameplay, 2500 kills and 11,000 points set him a very pretty 18th place out of a surprisingly 10,000 weekly players. Clearly this game has still got some decent chops to pull that number after all this time!
Another contemporary of KZ2 saw some action from blast71 this week, as he got around to finishing the single player campaign. I totally agree with him, that it’s a pretty great single player. A lot more fun and tongue in cheek than BF3 was.
That’s basically it this week, so we wrap things up with a spot of unwrapping, as TheLoneSteven got himself a spangly new DualShock 3. He does seem to break them quite regularly…
We’re nearly done, but you can head over to page two for the full trophy leaderboards. To finish off this page, we have the usual submission form for photos and accomplishments.
