Samurai Warriors 2 HD Confirmed For PS3/Vita

For anyone following the series’ chronology, this latest bit of news from the Warriors camp will seem a bit odd. In the latest issue of Famitsu, Tecmo KOEI confirmed that HD re-masters of Samurai Warriors 2 and its Xtreme Legends/Empire expansions will launch for PlayStation 3 and Vita.

The popular samurai slaughterfest originally launched in 2006 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360. Since then, Samurai Warriors 3 was released on Wii in 2010 before being ported to both PSP and PlayStation 3, neither or these versions seeing a Western release.

With Tecmo KOEI currently pushing its crossover series, Warriors Orochi, and the about-to-launch Dynasty Warriors 8, re-hashing a six-year old title seems like a bit of cash grab.

Chance are, we won’t see it launching overseas. If anything, Western PlayStation gamers are still no doubt pining for an English version of Samurai Warriors 3.
