Activision Bringing Call of Duty and More to Wii U

It’s nice to see third party support of the Wii U from Activision, particularly when a lot of hope seems to be lost when it comes to EA and other publishers. While there’s no exclusives here, Activision are bringing the new Call of Duty game, Ghosts, as well as Angry Birds and SpongeBob SquarePants to the Wii U.

Ghosts will arrive alongside the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions on November 5th, but there’s no word on whether it’ll be more in line with the PS3/360 or PS4/Xbox One versions. There will be GamePad support, hopefully including the sublime dual screen local and online multiplayer found in the Wii U version of Black Ops II.

The Angry Birds Trilogy (including the original, Seasons, and Rio) will arrive on the system on August 13th, incorporating GamePad controls for flinging the birds a la the mobile versions. This will be followed by Angry Birds Star Wars on October 29th.

Also coming to the system is the just announced SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton’s Robotic Revenge, which promises an original story, platforming, action and puzzle-solving. The game will release at some point this fall.

  1. Presume it’ll be same as ps3/360, which is a shame.

    • Well yes, but given the equivalence of the Wii U hardware, it’s to be expected.

      • Somewhere inbetween, with the tesselation etc, would have been nice.

  2. Awesome. Was hoping Ghosts would come to the Wii-U. As you say, playing BLOPS2 with one player on the gamepad and another on the TV screen was awesome
