Version 4 of the Unreal engine will be powering many next-gen games and Epic Games’ Senior Artist Bill Green and Developer Support Manager Zak Parrish have posted a new video in which they talk about the new materials pipeline.
Basically this is an excuse to look at shiny things in HD and marvel at the bumpy bits.
Forthcoming games Daylight, Primal Carnage: Genesis, Fortnite and Heavy Gear Assault will benefit from the technical wizardry.

First three minutes was way too geeky for me (and I like to know the basics) but the result was nice enough. Good to see control at this level being possible in such a way. Just interested to see how it gets used in the gaming world.
