Ubisoft have just announced at Sony’s press conference, that they’ll be bringing Watch Dogs to the big screen in co-operation with Sony Picture Entertainment and New Regency.
Chief executive officer of Ubisoft motion pictures, Jean-Julien Baronnet, said that due to Ubisoft’s and Sony’s movie production branches, this creates the opportunity for them to “merge the realms of the story-based cinematic experience with the interaction of the video game,” and that they’re confident that they “can deliver a movie that builds upon the excitement that the game is already generating.”
It’s certainly exciting and it’s definitely a concept that could work well on the big screen, as well as in game form, with some of the hacking and information threads extremely relevant in today’s world.
There’s not much news on who’ll be involved in the production of, or starring in, the film, but it’s certainly an exciting announcement. We do know, however, that Sam Dickerman, who produced Battle: Los Angeles, will be overseeing the film while Alexandra Milchan and Andrew Calof will be working on the film for New Regency.
