News Snatch: The Storm After The Quiet

Greetings one and all, more Snatchy goodness starting with a new developer diary for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

We’re almost done with the game shows for this year with just the Tokyo event to go but if you are expecting any last minute, or indeed Last Guardian, surprises then you’re out of luck.

Shuhei Yoshida was asked “Anything left for the TGS keynote next week or are we done for now?” to which he replied “Done.”

The team behind Derek The Deathfin are “planning on launching something genuinely terrific on Thursday.”

They teased “something rhythmically and mystically and spiritually related to lilt line” earlier in the year and released the image above, so I asked Gordon from Different Cloth if this was the mystery announcement, to which the answer was “Yes!”.

Lazlow from Grand Theft Auto will get his own radio show in the UK this Sunday on Absolute Radio. He will be playing classic tracks from the games and chatting with listeners, tune at 8pm for the huge advert for GTA V. I mean radio show.

Product Manager of WB Games Interactive Entertainment Kyle Moffatt, has revealed that the Deathstroke DLC for the forthcoming Batmam: Arkham Origins will span a generous 5-6 hours.

Capcom’s financial report has revealed that DmC: Devil May Cry did not meet the expected 2 million units managing to shift only 1.5 million. Resident Evil 6 also came up short by selling 4.9 million units, Capcom expected to sell 7 million.

Borderlands 2 will be receiving new Headhunter DLC packs in the near future and Josh Jeffcoat, a Game Designer for Gearbox has urged fans to purchase the packs if they want more to follow.

“Basically, we’re just going to see how people like it. If they like these new smaller-scale campaigns, then we might try and keep doing more of them, because they’re much, much faster for us to make than the full-scale Tiny Tina DLC was.”

The pre-order bonuses for InFamous: Second Son have been revealed and they are.. different denim jackets.

Halo 4 designer Scott Warner has joined Visceral Games as design director. Visceral are rumoured to be working on something next gen, as is every other game developer, ever.

Up until now we have avoided the kerfuffle going on regarding the character Quiet in Metal Gear Solid 5, but in case you have been hiding under a rock, here is a quick recap: [drop]

Quiet’s costume, which you can see over there on the left, was revealed to be tights with holes in them and a small strip of cloth that even the most generous would have trouble describing as a bikini.

Let’s face it it, she looks a bit… underdressed and many thought she was overly sexual, prompting Hideo Kojima to take to his Twitter account to defend her design.

“I know there’s people concerning about “Quiet” but don’t worry. I created her character as an antithesis to the women characters appeared in the past fighting game who are excessively exposed. “Quiet” who doesn’t have a word will be teased in the story as well. But once you recognize the secret reason for her exposure, you will feel ashamed of your words & deeds.”

Apparently the controversy over Quiet’s attire is part of the commentary Metal Gear Solid 5 will make on today’s society, which is like, wow, deep man.

However this doesn’t counter the fact that Kojima released these shots to promote his game.

According to Shuhei Yoshida, his official job title at Sony is “a PlayStation fan, Twitter addict and troll.”

Science News! Disney has developed a device to transmit sound through the human body, using the skin and bones as conduits.

“When they touch someone’s earlobe, an organic speaker is formed and the sound becomes audible, effectively whispering a message into that person’s ear.”

Sounds like witchcraft to me, but you can read more on the BBC news website.

And Finally, PlayStation have scooped yet another indie exclusive with Pavilion heading to PS4 and PS Vita in spring 2014.

That’s your lot for today, I’m off to find some ripped fishnets and a rag for my Quiet cosplay, tata!

  1. Shuhei Yoshida is probably just trolling with his Twitter response.

  2. Another interesting new indie title to look forward to, we are going to be spoiled rotten.
Oh and thanks for that mental image at the end .. :o

  3. At least the inFamous pre-order unlocks are only aesthetic changes(and relatively small ones at that), so for now it actually looks like it’s more “get a little extra” instead of “get these awesome things that should be in the game anyway, but you’ll miss out on if you don’t pre-order from certain places”. As it should be.

Also, what the hell Disney?! That description sounds super creepy.
