Guacamelee! Joins PlayStation Plus Instant Games Collection

Now I really want Mexican food.

DrinkBox Studios’ brilliant brawling platformer has joined November’s PlayStation Plus content, so you’ll be able to download it at no extra cost if you’re a subscriber to the service in Europe.

While the above tweet announces that it is available right now, there seems to be a bit of an issue, as it’s still showing up at its £5.57 PS+ price point for both PS3 and PS Vita versions. DrinkBox are currently reaching out to Sony to discover what the issue is.

It does show up on the UK PlayStation Plus website, so it’s definitely happening, but you might need to wait a little while longer before you can download it for ‘free’.

It’s definitely worth picking up when you can though, as we scored it 9/10 in our review, describing it as “one of the best games for your Vita” and “pretty much essential”.

  1. Nearly bought it when it was released. Glad I didn’t now!

  2. Hyped if you bought it in the cross-buy sale last week. C*nts.

    • Yeah, they need to stop putting PS+ discounts on games that are about to be on the IGC. I just bought this.

      • I almost did. Went with Lone Survivor in the end.

  3. Awesome, almost bought it a few weeks back.

  4. I ended up buying this just after release, well worth the 9/10 review and price.Bonus for those who are on plus and not yet bought it but a bit of a pisser if you got it last week in the cross-buy sale.

  5. Phew! I nearly bought this yesterday but ended up rushing out. It’s still in my cart :)

  6. Nice. Gotta love another freebie.

  7. I’m delighted this is coming to PS+, although I (gladly) paid for it, it means others will get to try it who otherwise may have overlooked it. One of the gems from the past year and deserves a lot of credit imo.

    • Couldn’t agree more mate. Happily bought it when it came out and they deserved every penny, it is an absolute gem of a game and one of my favourite PSN games of all time.

      • Same mate, one of my top 10 games of all time.

It also has local co-op on PS3 which some people may not be aware of…which can also make some of the challenging sections easier.

      • Good to know it has local co-op which I find to be the weakest point of PS3 games. Will gladly check it out, thanks.

    • I completely agree. Paid full price in August and took it with me on vacation. It is one of the best Vita games currently available and I would have gladly paid twice the price.

  8. YES!
Was thinking of buying it yesterday but wasn’t sure and now I don’t have to worry about it! =D

  9. Holy guacamelee! PS Plus just keeps on giving.

  10. Oh I wanted to buy it with the discount, then again I do love Plus.
