The LEGO games are really fun, though I’ve stopped playing them over the last few years. Even The Lord of the Rings, which I was really excited of the prospect of, passed me by at first. I gave up on it after a few chapters, and haven’t gone back since.
It’s a shame, I had a blast with the original LEGO Star Wars games, but I didn’t even bother picking up the first next generation title – LEGO Marvel Super Heroes – despite loving that franchise very much. Maybe that will change with The Hobbit.
I’ve yet to see The Desolation of Smaug, but perhaps once I’ve seen that I’ll be craving The Hobbit enough to pick up the game when it releases next spring, ahead of the long wait for the third and final film in the trilogy.

The majority of scenes from the above trailer appear to be from the first film, so don’t worry about spoilers. The game looks very much like The Hobbit game which was released back in 2003, but far more exciting and full of LEGO, naturally.
Whatever the case, it should be a good game. It’s releasing on all current gaming platforms (that’s a lot of development work!) in spring 2014.

there’s Tauriel and Legolas in what looks like a scene from Desolation, so it looks like it has content from that movie.
probably won’t have There And Back content though.
not if it’s coming out that far ahead of the actual movie.
anyway, the Lego games have always been loads of fun, i doubt this will be any different.

I went to see The Desolation of Smaug yesterday talk about cliff-hanger ending.
Can’t wait to get this when it come out.

Really looking forward to this.
Went to see Desolation of Smaug and absolutely loved it.

I must be the only person who though Desolation of Smaug was utterly shite and did no credit to the amazing LOTR trilogy or the first installment of The Hobbit. However i did say about an hour ago whilst watching that they should totally make a game because some of those scenes would make for great playability!

I’ve loved playing through all the LEGO games with my wee nephew so far so I’ll definitely be picking this up when it’s released.
