Tecmo KOEI Compares All 3 Versions Of Latest Dynasty Warriors

If you’re a Dynasty Warriors fan and happen to own a fairly new piece of Sony gaming hardware then you are in luck. Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends is just a couple of weeks away and will be available for both PlayStation 3 and 4 as well as the PS Vita.

For those unfamiliar, Xtreme Legends is the name that has been given to on-disc Dynasty Warriors expansions for over a decade now. Traditionally these add-ons have provided bonus maps, weapons, and the occasional innovative game mode.

In 8XL, players will be treated to new characters as well as a few new and returning game features, including the bodyguard system. DW8’s Ambition Mode has also been extended, allowing players to conquer other territories after developing their own settlement.

If you already own a copy of Dynasty Warriors 8 on PlayStation 3 then you will need to buy the on-disc expansion to get the full suite of content. For those buying on PS4 and PS Vita, however, this version is dubbed the “Complete Edition” and comes with everything, including the original game.

TK has drawn up a handy chart for anyone left wondering:

No matter which copy of the game you own, sava data is fully transferable.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends is due out on April 4th. Be sure to give our DW8 review a quick one-over to refresh yourself with the series.

  1. Wish they’d do the xl series on xbox. The cross save is pretty impressive.

    • I don’t why they skip on Xbox when it comes to Dynasty Warriors XL. Perhaps is to do with how many units the series sells on PlayStation (I imagine its more in Japan/Asia).

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires should be multi-platform though I reckon.

      • Yeah I think its because of the Japan sales influence. I like having the custom character that the xl series offer.

  2. Been a while since I’ve played a game in the DW series… but I am looking for more PS4 games, I’ll be looking at the complete edition.
