Evolution Studios founder Martin Kenwright has returned to the game making industry after a five year break by unveiling Starship, new game studio. The studio itself was actually first started in 2013 in Liverpool, but public knowledge of its existence only happened earlier today. At the moment all we know is that former members of Studio Liverpool and Evolution Studio, with a total of 20 staff members ready to bring some new gaming goodness. Martin Kenwright is founder while ex Studio Liverpool director, Clemens Wangerin, will be taking the role of COO.
Martin Kenwright spoke about the vision for Starship.
“I was never going to return to the industry to do something that people expected. I had five years away from making games, during which I came to the conclusion that gaming investment is broken, and because of that real innovation seems to have taken a backseat.
The concept for Starship takes our AAA softology and wraps it around the antidote. The content that we’re working on now breaks new ground in a multitude of ways; in concept, in our approach to its creation, in how it’s funded, right through to how it’s marketed. Work on a number of genuinely game-changing products is already underway and we’ll be in a position to unveil the first as we get closer to summer.”
We wish the best of luck to Starship and look forward to see what comes from the team in the future.
