The race to the top of the charts is quite exciting when new games are debuting, particularly if they’re brand new IPs such as Watch Dogs, or games appearing on an underselling system such as Mario Kart 8.
As expected, Watch Dogs has made it to the top, reaching first place after presumably throwing a blue shell at Mario Kart on the third lap, or just being so far ahead throughout the entirety of the race due to a boosted head start from holding down the A button during the countdown.
Watch Dogs is the biggest new IP ever to release, beating the record set by L.A. Noire with an increase of 58%, while Mario Kart 8 is the bestselling debut for a Wii U game since launch, and the second best debut in the series, which means that there has been a 666% increase in Wii U sales, 82% of which is the Mario Kart bundle.
Wolfenstein clocks in at number three, FIFA 14 remains in the top five as ever just behind that, and the newly boxed PS3 edition of Minecraft has managed to grab number five. Interestingly, Minecraft PS3 and Xbox 360 editions seem to exist as separate entities, and we wonder where it would end up if the sales were bundled together. You can see the full top 40 chart below:

Top 20 isn’t that bad for a port of an old game. And I’m assuming this doesn’t count digital sales.
Although it has it’s technical issues, I find it to be thoroughly enjoyable game, it suits the handheldness very nicely.

I’d have it if it wasn’t for the incompotn of Zavvi. Ordered at the start of April. Release date 30/05 but they predict they will be getting stock to pick on 30/06. A whole month late.
Cancelled and will swing by the shops tonight to pick it up elsewhere.

incompotn = incompetence.
Not sure what happened there.

I think you answered that yourself… :-P

Was browsing in Gamestop on a day off on Monday and just confirmed release day with them. Was told that they had receive only one copy, soI put in their one and only preorder.

I want to know if watchdogs on ps4 alone outsold Mario kart 8 on wiiu.

Aliens: Colonial Marines – This game just won’t die. Universally panned and released over a year ago, this game has to win a ‘survivor’ medal!

It’s under a fiver both at Game and Amazon. i’d imagine there’s quite a few Alien fans willing to give it a go at that price. Still unbelievable that it’s in there though.

It’s one of those games where you buy it just to see how bad it is. I grabbed it when it was £3 on PSN and played it through with Bodachi and Topgearsam.
It was quite amusingly bad.

Nice to see Mario Kart entering strongly, I wonder how long it’ll remain on the list.
And all those Lego games must be making some serious dough.

Long live Skate 3! It’s amazing really.
