News Snatch: Volume, Destiny, Dead Island 2 And Mirror’s Edge 2

Here we go then, it’s the longest day of the year if you are working in the games industry, it’s E3 Day! As there is so much to get through I shall be even briefer than usual but let us begin with a treat, actual legend Peter Cullen explaining why Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark is awesome.

It probably won’t be because High Moon are not involved and it’s a movie tie in. But still, Peter bloody Cullen! Yay!

A rather creepy real life trailer for Volume, just look at those shiny happy people.

AMD Says PS5 And Xbox Two Will Arrive Sooner Than You Think

Oh really? Tell me more! How did AMD gain such knowledgeable insight, I am sure it has nothing to do with last gen being universally acknowledged as the longest console cycle ever.

“The life cycle of the products are probably going to be shorter,” foretold well known psychic and coincidentally, AMD’s senior VRP and CFO, Devinder Kuma. “Our customers are already thinking about what comes next,” he added, stroking his beard in a mystical way.

Leaked footage of a a pre-alph build of Destiny running on PlayStation 4.

Dead Isand 2 has been trademarked in the past few days so expect it to show up at E3 this week.

Square Enix have also registered two new domains, LaraCroftandtheTempleofOsiris.com and RiseoftheTombRaider.com. Best guess is that Rise of the Tomb Raider to be announced at E3 for consoles and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris to be a mobile game.

MCV confirm that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be coming to PS3 and Xbox via the ex Transfomers devs, High Moon.

The Golf Club may be a terrible dull name for this PS4 game, but with procedurally generated landscapes and the possibility of Move and Morpheus support it could be rather spectacular.

Notch, creator of Minecraft, has a new game. Well, sort of game. It’s a thing to be honest, but it has a lovely horse in it and you can download it here for free, and donate some Dogecoins if you like it.

Back to the trailers then, and this one is for Pokémon Art Academy.

SteamWorld Dig is coming to Wii U this autumn. “It’s a lifelong dream come true, since most of us at Image & Form are massive Nintendo fans,” said the devs.

Posted because I’m fed up of people saying how good gaming was ‘back in the day’. No, It was not, look at the crap we had to put up with.

Square Enix Montréal is proud to announce Hitman: Sniper, a brand new competitive sniping game currently being developed for mobile and tablet devices. In fact they were so proud the released a trailer to to the press and then removed it themselves. [Editor’s note: Found another one]

And Finally, make use of that PS Eye you bought and never used with this virtual drum kit. Right, that’s the decks clean and the good ship TSA is about to dock at E3. I suggest you tighten your rigging and make yourself a sturdy pint or ten of grog. See you on the other side me hearties!

(I have no idea what I went all pirate for that, but it works. Yo ho ho!)

  1. I need more Mirrors Edge during this E3…

  2. Lara Croft and the Templerun of Osiris?

  3. Destiny is looking good. One of the few titles that was supposed to be out this year that might actually still be out this year!

Still not enough to tempt me to get a PS4 though.

  4. I’d love to dust off my move controller for Golf Club…

  5. Everytime I hear Peter Cullen say ‘Megatron!’ I literally get goosebumps.

  6. Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris sounds like a sequel to Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.

Which would be great (obligatory bring it to the Vita too plug).

  7. Dead Island 2? Lovely stuff! More please.

    • I wholeheartedly agree with this comment.

Strange that they actually went for a sequel (2) rather than a strapline (Riptide) this time though – As Riptide was a continuation of the first game, I wonder if that means that we will have new protagonists/island & a new/different outbreak etc?

I also wonder where that leaves Dying Light? Announcements on that one have been a bit scarce lately.

      • Agreed, it is very odd. I think this will be a long way off though as Dying Light has been delayed until next year.
Unless they’ve decided to rename DL as DI2.
