Forza Horizon 2 On Xbox 360 Is A “Different Game” To The Xbox One Version

Forza Horizon 2 on Xbox 360 will be “inspired by the same ideas” as the Xbox One version but will not be the same game.

“It’s based in the same world, it’s based on the same themes,” explained Playground Games creative director, Ralph Fulton, in an interview with Digital Spy. “Rather than thinking of them as the same game on different platforms, they are different games inspired by the same ideas.”

“There are things we are doing in Forza Horizon 2 on Xbox One that honestly couldn’t be done on any other console,” he added, referring in part to the weather system and Drivatars.

It has also been revealed that, unlike Driveclub, the game will ship without any micro transactions.

“The approach we’ve taken is that we’ve designed our game at Playground Games from the ground up to be fair, to be fun, to be rewarding,” said Fulton. “That’s incredibly important to us. For that reason, we will launch in September without tokens.”

Note that although the game will launch without micro transactions, Microsoft may choose to implement them at a later date.

  1. DriveClub doesn’t have tokens either. You can pay to unlock specific cars, but you don’t pay to buy in game credit – which is what FH2 is saying they don’t do.

  2. I hate dlc in racing games with the exception of burnout paradise.

    • Looking back on things, Burnout Paradise was pretty much a perfect arcade driving game – Fun single player, brilliant (& almost seamless) multiplayer, decent sized/priced DLC.

How were things so right back then (early 2008!) compared to nowadays??

Also baffling that they didn’t release a sequel.

      • I know right, The game had plenty of content to begin with, looked beautiful (60fps!) but had a unique arcade look about it. DLC was done perfectly.

But no, Criterion were put on ‘Need for speed’ duty, and look where they are now, working in a pub on some motorStorm-esque game.

  3. So are both versions of Horzon 2 without microtransactions, or is it just the 360 version that this developer is talking about. After the Forza 5 farce, no microtransactions would be a breath of fresh air.

  4. Umm so they are the same game but they are different? yet they dont explain why they are different?

    • FH2 on Xbox one is being built from the ground up for next gen with the forza 5 engine developed by playground games at 60 fps at native 1080p. FH2 on the 360 will use a slightly updated engine with minor improvements from the first forza horizon developed by a different company that’s not playground games (forgot who).
