Bungie Releases Stats From The Destiny Alpha, Almost 6.5 Million Games Played

The Destiny Alpha was a rather fun thing to play I found, and it shot my interest in the game from very low to now quite intrigued. There was no question that lots of people would want access to the alpha, and now Bungie has released some figures on things like how many enemies were killed, and how many control points were captured by players in the Capture mode in Crucible mode. One of the big statistics that does jump out is that within a few days 6,461,871 games were played.

The other figures are as follows:

  •  149,522,313 Primary Weapon Kills
  •  21,782,610 Secondary Weapon Kills
  • 4,002,737 Heavy Weapon Kills
  • 21,687,298 Super Ability Kills
  • 2,819,211 Orbs of Light Gathered
  • 6,850,773 Control Points Captured in the Crucible
  • 1,195 Deathless Medals awarded in the Crucible
  •  4,356 Splatters with the Sparrow
  • 667,966 Public Events Joined
  •  60,491,944 Fallen Dregs Dispatched with Extreme Prejudice

The primary weapons got the most kills which is expected, but seeing the super ability and secondary weapon kills quite close together is more of surprise. It usually took a little bit of work to gain the super ability, but they’re able to kill more than enemy at a time. The Destiny Beta will be launching in July and pre-ordering guarantees a spot, and it appears for the time being that will be the only way to access it.

  1. Cannot wait. Most fun I’ve had on the PS4.

  2. Looks like they’ve won over the Ps crowd. Sounds great.

  3. Those are some hefty stats. Really enjoyed the Alpha so bring on the Beta and the full game in September! Definitely the sort of game I’ve been after since the PS4 was released.

  4. All over it! Can’t wait!

  5. Loved every second of the alpha. Was so good after proper getting into it.

  6. Hmmm, they didn’t mention how many played… I would have thought that would be the most impressive stat, unless the figure is not that impressive.

    • For an Alpha with limited access codes it probably wouldn’t seem very impressive when people inevitably compare it to games already out and popular.

      • True that, good point. Especially in today’s world of data and statistics being compared and analysed to death.

  7. I watched a little of it streaming live but that’s probably not the best way to get excited about it, impressive figures though.

  8. I’ve bit the bullet and bought the expensive digital pre-order, bring on the beta!

  9. didn’t really get me juiced up enough!
but being an x boxer for a long time, spent a lot of time with master-chief so perhaps that’s i was expecting from this bungie outing?

  10. Really excited for this. Wasn’t initially interested but the beta completely won me over. Regardless of everything that impressed, it just “feels” right, something which shooters rarely get perfect.
