Sony Reveal Destiny And The Last Of Us Themed PS4 Systems

While the announcement of a Frozen themed PS4 system last week was a bit strange, Sony seem to be carrying on with releases of themed consoles in Japan, though this time they’re very much game related.

First up, there’s that white Destiny system, though this one comes with a Destiny logo across the top of the system. It actually looks quite appealing, despite being rather simplistic.

The next console is the one that looks really cool. This one comes in black, though has a design featuring The Last of Us logo and silhouettes of Joel and Ellie’s faces.

We can only hope designs like these head to Europe and the US, but they seem to be Japan-only affairs for now. The Last of Us system will release on August 21st, priced at 47,980 yen (£277/$473), while the Destiny one launches alongside the game on September 11th for 46,980 yen (£271/$464). You might want to look into importing, though this will likely drive the fees up.

  1. I’m just a bit shocked as to how much cheaper ps4s are in Japan. We’re being ripped off, I hate the UK more and more with each passing day.

    • I think I paid 20% Japanese Vat on my Vita, on top of the RRP, which would bring their price up much closer to ours on a PS4. You’re right though, we do get screwed, I’d be tempted to import one if the duty wasn’t so colossally high.

    • I know it has to be shipped here but wow. 40,000 Yen is currently around £248 or so (8% sales tax added on to £230). Eep! Saying that, Japan’s price leaves everyone to shame.

  2. Hmm, not sure about these. They look nice, but I don’t like the idea of being stuck with the graphic. Sony could do with selling spare panels, a brushed silver one would like amazing on the white console.

  3. I like the Destiny one, but not the last of us one, also is this all they can do? They don’t want to do full system designs?

  4. awesome if you can stand these ps4’s up but pointless laying flat….
the last of us looks like chuck norris and the bird from juno!
while the destiny looks like an original xbox 360
