Driveclub Update: Friendly Leaderboards Up, Connectivity Improving

Another day and another update to the continuing Driveclub launch saga, in which the online has been suffering since day one. Today Evolution have offered more information this time stating that more players should be able to connect, and online friendly leaderboards are live. , There is still no update on the PS Plus edition. As always the full statement from Evolution can be read below. Hopefully by in the next couple of days everything will be functioning.

After more successful upgrades and updates to the servers today, performance continues to improve and more of you will be able to play online together.

We’re still working, and will be around the clock, to keep improving social connectivity and online play, and we are pleased to say we have also added in friendly leaderboards now.

We will have info about more updates to the game and the servers soon. In the mean time, while this work continues, we are also paying attention to all of the feedback and comments you’re sharing with us too – so please keep sharing so that we can keep improving the game and giving you more to play for.

  1. Its been working fine for me the past two hours. Anyone fancy joining my club and help unlock some motors?

    • Sure, what’s your club called?

      • Hi Severn, its called: Squealing Hogs
Just need 1 more person to get started, as my fickle (real world) friends haven’t bothered to pick up the game yet. How dare they.

  2. Sounds promising and on the right track.
Anyone unsure purchase direction wise should consider buying the retail game which is available at more or less the same price as the upgrade game on the store to save space on the wee 500GB HD ;)

    • I may be wrong but don’t all disc based games install to the hard drive anyway,so technically your not really saving and hdd space.

      • I’m not all that savvy either mate but I’d have thought that some of the game would run from disc…this is from a PS3 perspective mind you as I’m not sure how it all works next gen.

      • The size of the install from disc is 16GB, according to my PS4.

      • The install from the store is 16Gb also i believe the disc is just used as verification if you own the disc based game,so you can’t just trade it in and keep on playing.

      • Aah, that’s interesting. So I guess that the only advantage to buying retail (apart from price difference) would be for trading later purposes.

I wonder if all PS4 games utilise the full install to Hard Disc?
Must surely be time for the terabyte console to release.

      • Yeah spot on freeze i believe they all install fully to hdd so the only difference is possible price an trade, hence why im part of the 2TB club, pop the disc in takes a minute or 2 till you can play while the drives kick in and sucks the rest of data off the disc,i know Wolfenstein sits at 53GB on my hdd with all updates an wot not it says 49GB minimum on the box,all my games are on or around the minimum hdd requirement.

  3. Good stuff, i’m too tired to play tonight but i’m lookin forward to playing again tomorrow.

  4. Still no online for me. Can’t connect to the server for hours now.

  5. I still cannot connect I thought I was in but immediately get this message ‘there has been a problem x communicating…..’ I guess everyone tried to connect same time xD, it’s getting there though just one more day I guess.

  6. Contrary to the supposed improvements, tonight has been the worst night for connectivity since launch for me.

From my own experience, there don’t seem to be any improvements at all, just less people playing the game.

  7. Didn’t work for me last night at all.

  8. I was intermittently on and off the servers last night. Hopefully it’s getting there, as the game itself is good!

  9. I note that the number of comments on the DriveClub fiasco articles are dropping. The first article drew 3 pages of comments and the number of comments has been dropping with every article. I wonder why…

    • DriveClub fans are being quietly killed one by one?

    • People are losing interest?

    • People have already said why they’ve got to say I guess.
There were more people than ever playing it on my friends list last night.

  10. Worst. Launch. Ever.

Well, pretty close at least :).
