Alien Trap Games has announced that side scrolling hack ’em up Apotheon will be releasing on PS4 in January. The game has been inspired by the artwork of ancient Greece, with the whole game using the art style of the game to tell the story of a different kind of Mount Olympus. In Apotheon all the gods and spirits have left Earth, deciding that they’ll live on the mountain. This means that Olympus has become incredibly crowded and tensions rise in the various areas.
The developers state that you’ll be able to tackle the journey on Olympus any way you would like, and you’ll be able to interact with the deities. The game does have full voice acting to bring them to life. You’ll be able to explore various areas including Hades’ underworld or an Apollo party, and you can choose in which order to visit them. There’s no definite release date yet or price. I think it is a really nice looking title, and like how Alien Trap are using ancient Greek art to create an entire game. Hopefully the end product will be entertaining.
