Out This Week: The Crew, Game Of Thrones & Kingdom Hearts

It’s finally December and with just a few weeks before Christmas, we’re starting to see a few latecomers. Ahead of the pack is today’s release, The Crew, followed by tomorrow’s usual digital dose courtesy of PlayStation Plus. Finally we have yet another Telltale Games’ series alongside Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix.

The Crew | PS4, Xbox One, PC | Today

Out of all the big-name racers launching this years, Ubisoft’s The Crew seems to be the boldest and least conventional. Developed by Ivory Towers and the studio behind Driver: San Francisco, The Crew eschews the traditional track-by-track formula in favour of a US-themed open world populated by hundreds of events and landmarks.

Whether tearing from coast to coast or attempting to beat your personal record, multiplayer plays a constant role with teams being able to face-off or join up for co-op missions. Customisation will also play a big part, adding even more role-playing elements to what’s often been described as the first console racing MMO.

Secret Ponchos | PS4 | Wednesday

Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series | PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC | Wednesday

Ending the year on a high, Telltale Games will be launching the first episode in its much-anticipated adaptation of HBO’s Game of Thrones.

Players will assume the roles of various characters, all of which hail from the northern clan of House Forrester. Set during the events of season three, you will run into all sorts of characters from the show including Cersei, Tyrion, and Ramsay snow, your actions changing the direction in which the story goes. There are a lot of hopes pinned on this one.

Final Horizon | PS Vita | PS4, Vita

Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix | PS3 | Friday

Although we’ve yet to get a proper look at Kingdom Hearts 3, publisher Square Enix has at least kept us occupied courtesy of two glorious HD remasters. The second launches this Friday, combining enhanced versions of Kingdom Hearts 2 as well as PSP favourite, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep.

Both have been fully optimised for PlayStation 3 and will arrive alongside a compilation of reworked cutscenes taken from 2011’s Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded.

  1. Is the new Lara Croft game out this week too?

  2. I know the end of the year is always crammed full of stuff, but it seems worse than ever this year!
