Life Is Strange Launching Next Month, Gets Reveal Trailer

Life Is Strange, the next game from Remember Me developer DONTNOD Entertainment, will launch as a five part series starting next month. The first episode will debut simultaneously on new generation platforms as well as PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on January 30th. Episodes are priced at £3.99 a pop though gamers can save a few quid by purchasing the season pass for a discounted sum of £15.99.

The trailer above gives us our first proper look at the game itself which looks to capitalise on the recent adventure game revival. Promising a dark and mysterious narrative, Life Is Strange follows the story of Max, a photography student who saves her best friend after triggering a premonition and going back in time. As anyone who has watched The Final Destination will know, changing fate’s carefully designed blueprint isn’t completely without its consequences.

It’s quite the departure from DONTNOD’s last release: 2013’s combat-heavy action game, Remember Me. Though it had some interesting ideas and an odd approach to storytelling, Remember Me failed to generate the commercial success publisher Capcom had been hoping for, sparking fears that DONTNOD was to be closed for good.

  1. Oooh, looks nice!

To me, the memory remixing was the only truly flawed part of Remember Me, I loved that game as a whole.

This could almost feel like they’re trying to revisit that aspect and get it right, making a whole new game out of it.

I can’t wait to try it out.

  2. Shit! Late January is going to be busy with quality games as I see it; Life Is Strange, Dying Light and remaster/remake of Grim Fandango.

    • On the plus side, LIS is only going to take a few hours of your time, what with being episodic in nature.

  3. Oh i like the look of this, very much so.
