Three years ago former Infinity Ward member Robert Bowling announced he was opening a new, self funded studio called Robotoki, and it was working on a game called Human Element. Today though it has been confirmed that Robotoki has been shut down due to Bowling not being able to continue funding the development of the game. Three years ago Bowling also announced that Human Element would release on OUYA, though that was cancelled, and just a couple of months ago a 2015 release date was confirmed for new gen & PC.
“This week we have ceased operations at Robotoki and the development of Human Element is on hiatus. We were actively negotiating a new publishing deal for the premium version of Human Element but unfortunately I was unable to continue to self-fund development until a deal was finalized.”
This doesn’t mean we won’t see Human Element release, but it will require a publisher to step in and fund the rest of the game’s development. That is unless Robert Bowling finds an alternate source of funding for the game. It’ll take some investment as Human Element is pitched as an MMO, so someone will have to keep the servers running.
