Metal Gear Rising 2 Was Apparently Not Being Teased

Yesterday reports came out, including from us,  that Metal Gear Rising 2 had been teased at the Taipei Games Show. This was due to a very brief shot of the number two done in the style of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance’s title font appearing during an ad in the livestream. Now Geoff Keighley has tweeted he has been speaking to Kojima Production’s Ken-ichiro Imaizumi, and has confirmed Rising 2 wasn’t teased.

Apparently this two was part of a countdown, and acccording to Mr Imaizumi the one and three are in the soundtrack. Okay, so if it’s a countdown then why use such a font associated with a particular game, and why only for the two? Who would go to that trouble and, I assume, pay the ad fees for that to appear during the livestream? The Metal Gear games as a whole have lots of misdirection and so forth put around them, and this could be another example of that.

I’d like a whole load of proof before believing that Rising 2 isn’t happening, and this blue two wasn’t the start of its promotional campaign.

  1. Hallelujah!

  2. But he didn’t deny it was Metal Gear related. Either someone made a cock up and they are trying to cover it up to avoid revealing MGRR:AR(Avegance Revegance) or it’s part of Metal Gear Solid 5 and it is Kojima being Kojima. Or it’s something to do with MGS Online. Or it’s an expansion for MGRR or it’s going to be a remake of a port of a remake with more snakes and……

I mean, this is either a subtle attempt at marketing or Kojima Productions got bored at some point.

  3. Then again Kojima did say Metal Gear 4 would be the last ever Metal Gear Game.
