UK Charts 21/02/15: The Order: 1886 Grabs The Top Spot

Sony have won their first number one of 2015 having previously secured the top spot way back in August 2014 with Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us: Remastered, which makes a surprise reappearance at No22.

Last week’s chart topper, Evolve, drops to third place with the evergreen Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare clambering over it to gain second place. Last week’s other new entries, Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, plunge down the charts selling less than 70% of their total from last week.

Further down the chart there are two new entries, Sega and Creative Assembly’s Total War: Attila for PC strategists at No21 and Koei Tecmo’s ‘Dead or Alive 5 Last Round’ for PS4 and Xbox One owners at No27.

  1. Well deserved! Brilliant game & I am glad I re pre ordered it again. Just goes to show either reviews are becoming more irrelevant or people are just desperate for games they are willing to buy anything right now

    • You said “For the price they charging for a triple A title, the rumoured length of the game, it’s disgusting & standard firm by it” just a few days ago.

How times have changed, eh? :-)

      • Ha! Please don’t remind me. I wish I could go back & delete. Dam you TSA for letting people remember

      • I mean this with genuine respect but it shows how some of us can be. It shows how emotions get in the way to a certain degree. It shows how we all need to breathe, calm down and then gather our thoughts.

I don’t suffer with it with games but in other areas, I do. You just have to tell yourself that a better, more level-headed opinion is just around the corner. That, or, after you’ve killed the first handful of people. :-)

  2. Like said above… Well deserved! Thoroughly enjoying The Order.
Like I stated on another thread, I was wary at first, but as I’ve progressed it’s got better and better, and what a visual treat. I even enjoyed the airship level which I didn’t like the look of on the demo’s which were shown.

Hopefully people will continue to ignore the bad publicity and reviews, buy the game and discover it’s a gem.

  3. Well deserved. I believe the excessive animosity from the gaming public (that haven’t played the game) and the generally negative reception from the press is too exaggerated. For me it was a solid game that I enjoyed, and there were far too many good things about the game that were consistently ignored or skimmed over by the majority of high-profile outlets, replaced instead by too much talk of what they believed the game didn’t do, rather than what it did.

    • Indeed. I read an interesting article on Kotaku earlier which was titled something like “the things The Order gets wrong”, and whilst it did highlight some interesting issues with the game both good and bad, it certainly focused on the bad. As I’ve said before I think people were expecting an out-and-out 3rd person shooter, but it’s more a hybrid of a 3rd person shooter and something like Heavy Rain. Either way I absolutely love it.

  4. Nice for it to receive commercial success after the hate train. I can’t see it having much legs sales wise as there will be an abundance of second hand copies at low prices.

  5. Good to see a PS exclusive at the top of the chart, and we’ll deserved.

  6. Wow, really wasn’t expecting The Order to come out on top. It’s a shame my pre-order still hasn’t arrived…

  7. Glad this has gone in at no.1. Hopefully they can keep the sales up with word of mouth which seems to be a lot more positive than the gaming media – who seem to be getting it wrong way too often these days.

Well made, fully working/bug-free games shouldn’t be getting 2/10 scores whether you find the gameplay stale, the story lacking or not. Those scores should be reserved for quick cash-in’s and unfinished/broken rush-releases.

Lately, reading game reviews is like reading a collection of angry tweets from over opinionated, wannabe journalists. Present company excluded of course :)

  8. Well done The Order 1886 deserves top spot as the game is absolutely stunning. I hope it’ll stay there a bit longer and that gamers are not put off by the reviews and the length of the gameplay with the price tag etc… my Premium Edition has arrived and it is gorgeous, going to play it again this week with more screenshots. Would be great to add photo mode like The Last of Us :)

  9. Kudos to Santa Monica i didn’t expect the game to top the charts.Glad to see all the negative press about it didn’t put people off buying it.

    • It’s not sony Santa monica, it’s Reafy at Dawn, they worked with Santa monica during their PSP GoW but this game is 100% RAD

  10. Well done RAD, The Order is seriously impressive and i’m loving every moment of it.
