Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Release Date Confirmed, Special Editions Detailed

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will release on September 1st for consoles. But you knew that already, as it was leaked just yesterday.

What you didn’t know, however, is that the game will be getting two special editions, in the form of a Day 1 Edition and a Collector’s Edition. The former comes with a map and some DLC, while the latter comes with an abundance of digital content and a replica of Snake’s arm, as well as the map, a steelbook, and a behind the scenes documentary. The editions will be priced at £59.99 SRP and £99.99 SRP respectively.

  1. One big advantage of going all digital: I’m no longer tempted by these expensive collectors editions.
Really looking forward to the game itself though. Hope it doesn’t clash with other games on my radar.

    • To be fair though, you could probably buy a retail copy of the deluxe version for the prices they charge for the standard digital version.

Take the Battlefield Hardline (Standard edition) preorder for example,

      Digital –
      PSN: £54.99 / XBL: £54.99

      Retail –
      Amazon: £44.00 / Zavvi: £39.98.

Going all digital must be costing you a small fortune. Even if you just bought 10 new games in a year, you’re still paying an extra £100-£150 extra which could buy you 3 extra games.

  2. Ooooo, 3 different types of cardboard boxes!!

  3. Any news on where this’ll be available for pre-order?
I’d guess either Amazon or Game.
Definitely going to add this to my growing number of collectors editions!

  4. Had this preordered forever. Can’t come quick enough.

  5. Its up for pre order on game now, a penny short of £100
