Square Enix has announced that Dragon Quest VIII is making its way to the Nintendo 3DS more than a decade after its original release. The acclaimed turn-based RPG debuted on PlayStation 2 in 2004 and is widely considered one of the best games in the long-running series.
Revealed through a teaser site, this latest adaptation of the game is due to release in Japan this August. Aside from the obvious 3D functionality, this version comes attached with new scenarios as well as two bonus party members. These are the female thief, Gerda, as well as Morrie – owner of the Monster Arena. Streetpass features have also been confirmed.
Square Enix has yet to say whether the game will be released overseas. Those who simply can’t wait can always try Dragon Quest VIII for iOS and Android.
