Capcom have recently gone on record to say that HD remasters will be one of their “key business activities”, so it’s no surprise then that the company has just announced that they will release a remaster of their Resident Evil prequel for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC next year.
Originally released exclusively on the GameCube in 2002, the game focusses on the ill-fated mission conducted by Bravo Team into the Arklay Mountains. You play as Rebecca Chambers as she investigates a string of murders and teams up with escaped convict, Billy Coen, in order to survive the viral outbreak. Zero was the first game in the series to give the player the ability to switch between characters, a mechanic which is central to solving the puzzles in the game.
The director of the original version, Koji Oda, will return for the remaster along with new producer, Tsukasa Takenaka. Capcom have confirmed that they will be sharing more information about the title in the coming weeks. With E3 just around the corner, it seems almost certain that we will see something around then.
