Play The First Nine Chapters Of Each Metro Redux Game For Free On PS4

4A Games have created two huge demos, one each for for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux and they are available to download right now for PlayStation 4.

The team say the were inspired by the original release of Doom in which you got the first third of the game for free and then only paid if you wanted the remaining two thirds.

“We applied this idea to Metro – and so each trial contains nine whole chapters representing several hours of gameplay,” say 4A Games. “If you reach the end of the trial and want to continue, you can unlock the full version and play on without interruption – you keep your game save!”

Each standalone game is currently available for £15.99/€19.99 and they’re both pretty good, especially Last Light. You can grab your massive demos here and here.

  1. This is great if people can continue after buying the physical version, since it’s probably half the price than the “full game upgrade”.

Also nice to people who just want to try it.

  2. I like the idea of this. Played some of Last Light on ps3 when it was on Plus and I seem to remember it being quite good.

    • Yeah they are good games, I got both of them remastered on PS4 for £16 around Xmas. Only completed the 1st one so far so still need to get stuck into the 2nd one when I hit a gaming lull.

  3. It’s such a shame that demos are a rarity these days, I remember looking forward to F5 Thursdays just to see what demos I’d be downloading this week.
I’ll definitely be giving last light a go, 2033 was brilliant.

    • Ah, F5 Thursdays, for a few years they brought us just the right balance of veriety, download size and demo joy! Good times.

  4. The trials are also available on xboxone and are deal of the week at £8 each.

    • And you can unlock achievements too I believe.

      • Achievements unlock in the demos?

That would be a first, only free to play games are like that.

      • It’s because its classed as a trial not a demo. Dead or Alive’s trial on xboxone works the same.

      • Cool, I don’t know why but I had it in my head that for those trial games the achievements and trophies only unlocked/counted when you purchased the game. It might be like that on PS.

  5. Found these games insanely boring.
