Gears Of War 4 Unveiled At Microsoft’s E3 Conference For Release Next Year

We had a feeling it would be along at E3, what with Black Tusk being rebranded as The Coalition a few weeks ago, but Microsoft revealed a fresh entry in the Gears of War franchise at their press conference.

Stylistically titled Gears 4, but actually still called Gears of War 4 – Update: this point has been clarified since the conference – it seems to feature two new protagonists, a man named JD and a woman who’s name I didn’t catch, as they hunt a dark and foreboding coastal village with a storm encroaching. Some impressive looking weather effects and major environmental destruction, which lend themselves well to a rather cinematic style.

Of course, there’s plenty of gun play, featuring the traditional Lancer Assault Rifle with its chainsaw bayonet and cover-based combat when, surprise surprise, a trio of the big monsters appear to try and eat the faces of our heroes.

With the game pegged for a holiday 2016 release, there’s quite some time before release in which we’ll doubtless see more of the game and learn about how it fits in with the rest of the series.

  1. *looks at bingo card – thumbs up*

  2. It looks pretty impressive. Seems to be more horror-ish again.
