From Software’s Dark Souls franchise has now sold over 8 million console units worldwide, it’s been revealed.
The quoted figure takes into account the first two Dark Souls games, the Artorias Of The Abyss expansion, and the more recent remaster Dark Souls 2: Scholar Of The First Sin, but not Demon Souls, or PS4 exclusive spiritual successor BloodBorne.
Japanese sales figures (on the left) total ~1million, whereas oversees – now looking to the right-hand column – we see combined sales of the original title and the Artorias expansion top 5million copies (with a roughly 50-50 split) whilst Dark Souls 2 has sold just shy of 2million to date. Scholar Of The First Sin has moved 600,000 units total, with only 70,000 of those being in Japan.
The third entry in the series – cunningly titled Dark Souls III – is currently in development and scheduled for release at some point in late 2016.
