Official In-Ear Stereo Headset Releasing For PS4 This December

Sony has announced that it is releasing a new in-ear stereo headset for the PS4 this December, at a price of £77.99/€89.99. The headset will release on December 4th in the UK and Ireland while the rest of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East and Africa will have to wait until December 9th. The headset features AudioShield technology to block out external sounds, and will have up to 15 hours of battery life.

Of course there is also a microphone to chat with people in your party too. The headset will have small, medium, and large sized tips, and 3.5mm jack so it can be plugged straight into your Dualshock 4, as well as Vita, smartphone, tablet, and pretty much anything that supports the same size port. There are some good alternatives for that price point though. Personally I use the official Vita headset which cost £9.95.

  1. Nice, but too pricey for me as I already have the wireless 7.1 headset.

Annoying you have to charge it and still have it plugged into the controller.

  2. Two things wrong with this item –
    The price is ridiculous.
This type of earbud is useless for me a they just fall out of my ears. If I’m going to have bud then an over-ear-grip/arm is required to keep it in place.

  3. I can’t see there is any market for this. Normal pair of earphones a tenner, headset for an average 35, and a surround sound headset for 55-70. Plus do these have any advantage whatsoever. I’d be surprised if this does well at all. Seems like Sony is throwing away a very small portion of their money away, like a Dragon’s Den ‘what the hell are you thinking’ kind of investment.

  4. I take it you get a pallet of these things to sell on eBay for that price.

  5. Too expensive. Just picked up some wireless 5.1 surround sound Turtle Beach headsets for £80. Can’t see these taking off for just normal stereo earphones. Not at that price.

  6. Thanks for the link through to the Vita headphones. Thought that they had stopped making them (all of my local shops have stopped stocking them at least!).

Always wanted to give them a go as a lightweight alternative to a headset, as I had heard they were quite good.

The Stereo headset featured in the video though? That’s gonna crash & burn hard unless they do something about that price. Waaay to high.
