Firewatch Lasts Around 5-6 Hours, No DLC Planned

Firewatch is due on February 9th for PC and PlayStation 4 and the developers have answered a few questions about the game in an interview with WCCFtech.

They say the play area “feels pretty big” but is “obviously not some bonkers Skyrim/GTA scale or anything like that.” Playtime will clock in around 5-6 hours depending on how much exploring you do, and although you will have to interact with environment there are no traditional puzzles, “You won’t be needing to rearrange scrambled letters to spell a word or match coloured tiles or anything like that.”

Developers Campo Santo say that although there are no “good or bad” endings, your choices through the game should give you a different story to others who have played the title, “When two different people play Firewatch, after they’re done, we hope they’ll be able to surprise each other with stories about different things that happened in their respective games.”

Firewatch comes to PlayStation 4 first, with the usual “We’re not talking about that” waffle when anyone mentions an Xbox One version, so expect that a bit later this year. The team say there will not be any DLC, and a VR version is unlikely.

  1. Any word on a price? Hoping it’s about 10-12 quid on Steam

    • I’m hoping it’s reasonably priced – but i was expecting it to be more than that, on console at least.

      • Considering they’re most likely being a tad generous with that estimated play time, and I doubt it has much replayability I don’t think I could justify it being any more than that, even if it looks really good.

Will probably be £49.99 on PSN though lol

  2. Whuuuuut?!

This is my first hearing of this… and… I’m sold!

That trailer seriously coloured me interested.

Fingers crossed for a good price.

  3. i am digging these adventure games,a nice change of pace for me in my twilight years..
I’m getting too old and slow for your cods and ya’ battlefields now.
if the price is right this looks like a bit of me.

  4. 5 to 6h seems quite short, but as I usually take much longer playing through a game than previously indicated, I’m not too worried. It looks definitely still interesting.

    • I never question the length of the game assuming it’s the right length. I just tell myself that Journey was around 2 hours (on first playthrough) and that was one of the finest games of my life. :-)

If this gets a good score, that’s me sold – depending on price. ;-)

  5. YAAAAAS! Only 29 more sleeps!

I dont mind the short game time. I spent four hours building a fort in Fallout 4 yesterday and I havent even started the story missions yet.

I think you need the short games too.

  6. I like a 5 hour long game – doable in one sitting – but I was really hoping for a VR version
