Deathwing Showcases Sprawling Environments In Latest Space Hulk Shots

Whenever the name “Space Hulk” is mentioned, it’s hard not to imagine a congested network of tight tunnels and blind corners. After all, this atmospheric sense of being caged in has been a constant throughout the series’ timeline, lending itself towards the turn-based mechanics of GW’s original board game.

However, this same approach isn’t likely to benefit a first person shooter – especially one that promotes online co-op between four players. It comes as no surprise then that developer Streum On Studio has fleshed out its playable roster of environments in the upcoming Space Hulk: Deathwing. Aside from showing off some gorgeously Gothic 40k architecture, these designs are no doubt engineered to accommodate larger numbers of enemies.

Fans of the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop game will be able to pick out motifs belonging to factions such as the Black Templars and Adeptus Mechanicus, suggesting there is more variety to these locations as previously thought.

Deathwing is due for release some time later this year. It should not be confused with last year’s woeful PlayStation port of Space Hulk, which is now available on PS3 and Vita.
