Taiwanese Animator Lists Knack II On CV

Two years ago PlayStation 4 wizard Mark Cerny said he’d quite like to make Knack II if he could. The original didn’t set the world on fire but the PlayStation 4 did, and as the daddy of the console Cerny can probably do what ever he likes at Sony.

That brings us to 3D Animator Mindy Liang, from Taiwan-based XPEC Entertainment Inc who listed Knack II on her CV, before quickly deleting any mention of the game when a NeoGaffer spotted it.

Maybe Knack will return at this years E3?

  1. I always find it strange why people would put on their public CV’s work they done on games that have not been announced yet, then remove when said public notice it! What’s the point, is it a deliberate tease or something.

  2. I think they do it to get peoples reactions.
Probably find that miss Liang has been banned from social media or demoted to tea lady.
I enjoyed the first one and would definitely buy the second one.

  3. I hope the second game has a better balance, ie if the story and presentation is going to be ‘for the kiddies’ then include a difficulty level they can play at, or else switch the tone of the story up a bit so more mature gamers can be more engaged with it.

  4. Knack was the first game I played on the PS4 and what an odd little game it was.

The plot was bizarre and the gameplay was frustrating as hell – especially on the higher difficulties – but there was something about it. It reminded me of the old school platformers from the PS1 era – colourful, challenging and cruel checkpointing. I went in thinking this will be a pleasant ‘kids game’ and got my ass handed to me. It was refreshing.

I felt the same way when I played the Jak & Daxter collection. I was expecting Ratchet & Clank re-skinned but it was so quirky and odd that it took a while for me to appreciate it on it’s own merits.

Jak 2 made some drastic changes – and was a much better game than the original – and I’d love to see Knack 2 follow a similar path. The first game had a pretty basic plot so there are so many places they could go with the narrative. Imagine a badass, futuristic/open world Knack.

It will be interesting to see what happens and if this is actually happening at all. I hope it is.

  5. I enjoyed Knack myself.

  6. To echo what others have said so far, I enjoyed Knack and would be interested in a sequel.
