Community Round-Up: 27/08/16

Formula 1 is back, and at one of the best tracks on the calendar: Spa-Francorchamps. It was a long break, but thankfully I had the Olympics keep myself occupied. How do you guys think this weekend and the second half of the season will play out?

Meanwhile, we’ve got a lot of post-Gamescom stuff to get through, so let’s get started on this week’s Community Round-Up!

Diving straight into the reviews, we had two high scorers this week. Kris reviewed Reigns, a simple, yet absorbing kingdom management sim. He gave the iOS game an 8/10, which is also what Miguel gave to Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X. He described it as “by far the best game in the series”, thanks to the improved visuals, customisation, music and more.

Next up, we had three games all on a 7/10. Dave enjoyed Worms WMD and felt it was like a classic worms game, as Dom was impressed by the huge roster King of Fighters XIV, even if the 3D graphics were a bit rubbish.

Meanwhile, Jim says that if you can get over the finicky combat, then Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom is a game that “has everything you love about Attack On Titan”. The last review was for Episode 4 of Hitman, which sees you continuing your murderous adventure in Bangkok. Although it didn’t best the first two episodes, Jim still enjoyed it and thinks season pass holders will too.

Looking at the previews now and all the stuff hot off the press in Gamescom. Stefan looked at the new additions to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and also spoke to the Narrative Director about the new direction it’s taking.

He then went from the future all the way back to 1968 for a look at Mafia III, set in the fictional city of New Bordeaux, based upon New Orleans. If you interested in the setting and story, then Tef’s interview with the Lead Writer is well worth a read.

Next, he went hands on with Batman Arkham VR, and had a look at Cities: Skylines’ next expansion, which will add Natural Disasters. Meanwhile, as Destiny moves towards its third birthday, he spoke to the Executive Producer to see what stories Rise of Iron will tell, and wrote about returning to the game for the upcoming expansion.

His last preview (he’s had a busy couple of weeks!) was for Watch Dogs 2, which is “brighter, more exuberant, and more excessive”.

Finishing up, the Chronicle looked at PS4 Firmware 4.0 and Driveclub VR, while What We Played #268 featured Titanfall 2, Reigns & Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Time to open up the Forums and have a look!

  • They’ve still been rather quiet, except for those chatting about No Man’s Sky.

Well, that’s the Round-Up done for another week. Until next time, bye!

  1. It’s looking like it will be a cracking race. Three teams, each with a car in the top three and within 0.200. Not sure how Max will get on with the Super soft tyre early on in the race with a fuel-heavy car, but hopefully there’ll be some strategic magic there to boost him along. I reckon if Rosberg nails the start, he should be able to get in some good race pace on the soft tyres and pull away, otherwise Verstappen could muddy things a little for him.

  2. I’m not sure if the Mercedes has the pace to just pull away from the start though. Rosberg will need to put his foot down to break the DRS gap within the first three laps, or I think he could easily get passed out of Raidillon by either Verstappen or Kimi, providing they don’t get caught up squabbling among themselves.

How do you think Hamilton will do? I think he’ll end up about 5-7, depending on how many crashes there are. He just didn’t seem to have much pace on his long runs in FP3, the tyres can’t handle the higher temps.

    • I think the fact that the Merc seems stronger on the softs (which Rosberg will be starting on) will be the deciding factor. The Red Bull and Ferrari cars are strong on the Super Soft, but there’s quite a gap on the Soft, and with higher temps most of the GP will be done on Softs. There may even be a cheeky try on the medium, and if it proves competitive, most teams will switch.

I think it will be around 8th place for Lewis Hamilton, purely because Force India, Red Bull, and Ferrari cars are competitive enough to put up a fight and defend. But again, if those Mercs are strong on the soft tyre, I reckon Hamilton could do some undercuts on the pit stops and maybe get higher. He’ll be hoping for a clean start anyhow, and the 11 cars ahead of him should be easy picking if he has the balance in the car.
