Now Google is no stranger to the mobile world having worked with a number of phone manufacturers to create the Nexus phones, as well as the Android OS. But the Pixel is Google’s first proper phone built by the company. The Pixel will be available in 5″ and 5.5″ sizes with two colour options internationally, these being Quite Black and Very Silver. There will be a US exclusive Really Blue handset available too. The handset will have 4GB of RAM and there will be options of 32GB or 128GB for storage.

Pixel owners will get unlimited cloud storage through Google Photos too. Android 7.1 is what the operating system the phones will ship with, and the Pixel handsets will be the first to have the new Google Assistant. The camera stats are 12MP sensor, 1.55µm pixels, f/2.0 aperture. The phones will have a headphone jack too. The Pixel’s starting price is £599 for the 32GB 5″ option. The Pixel XL with 128GB is the most expensive option at £819. Pre-orders can be placed today.

The Pixel has been built to work with VR and this is where the Google Daydream View VR headset comes in. The headset is 30% lighter compared to similar items, like the Samsung Gear VR, due to being made with fabric. It will fit any Daydream ready phones, with the Pixel and Pixel XL being the first of that line. The View comes with a remote control too that can be used while wearing the headset to navigate content. Slate, Snow and Crimson will be the colour options to choose from. There will be a lot of different content created for Daydream View like J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and new game by Mike Bithell called EarthShape.

Daydream View VR will be released in November. In the USA Daydream VR will cost $79 USD, in Canada $99 CAD, in the UK £69, in Germany €69, and in Australia the price is $119 AUD.
