Nidhogg 2 Announced With a Brand New Look

Nidhogg’s two player sword fighting is back next year, but the sequel is just a little bit different. Yes, it’s still got the familiar fencing poses and animation of before, but the new visual style is something else entirely.

There’s a 16-bit vibe to it, as opposed to the minimalist block colours of the rotoscoped feeling original, but the actual artwork and some of the visual cues are, well… Kristy Norindr of Messhof described them best, as being both goofy and grotesque.

The gameplay will see a ton of new additions as well, with throwing knives, bows and arrows, giant axes and over the top head stomps alongside the traditional sword fighting. Each promises to have its own particular playing style.

Nidhogg 2 is out on PS4 and PC some time in 2017.
