My experiences on Mars in PlayStation VR have been rather awful, you may recall my fruity thoughts of The Martian Experience which was utter, utter pants, so I’m hoping for something a bit better when Unearthing Mars pops on the PlayStation Store next week.
The game is not a “documentary-type VR experience, but really something that plays more like a good science fiction novel,” and they devs are nicely upfront and tell us the whole game lasts around two hours.
“In the first half of the game, players will experience operating a Mars landing craft vehicle firsthand, as well as explore the surface of Mars on foot and via a rover vehicle,” explains Eric from Winking Entertainment. “In the latter half, there is a lot more cross-genre gameplay as players discover a more esoteric side to the Red Planet, solving puzzles along the way and culminating in a first-person shootout that… well, I’ll let you guys experience that for yourselves.”
You will need two PS Moves to play the game, and it will launch at 14.99 euros with a discount in the first week. I’m looking forward to returning to Mars and giving the red planet a second shot.
