Black Ops III’s Zombie Chronicles DLC Resurrects Old Zombies Maps This Month

Nobody ever expects the zombie apocalypse, and nobody expected Treyarch to be able to continue to add to Black Ops III well after Infinite Warfare’s release. Yet here we are, and co-studio head Jason Blundell visited YouTuber JCbackfire, literally just chilling out in the guy’s room to reveal that Zombie Chronicles will be resurrecting the entire Black Ops Zombie mode saga for current gen.

The eight maps in the expansion won’t make Black Ops 3 truly definitive, as maps like Five and Die Riese will remain on the wrong side of the console generation divide, but it will bring an awful lot of Zombies content into one place. Those included are:

  • Nacht der Untoten
  • Verruckt
  • Shi No Numa
  • Kino Der Toten
  • Ascension
  • Shangri-la
  • Moon
  • Origins

Eager fans will be able to get a glimpse of all of this in a live stream on Monday 8th at 7PM BST, with the DLC releasing first on PlayStation 4 on 16th May, presumably traipsing onto other platforms a month or so later.

  1. To be fair Die Riese is already available on Black Ops 3 as The Giant (or possibly just “Giant”). It’s also missing Buried, Mob of the Dead and Call of the Dead. This might be deliberate as I don’t think any of those are essential to the time-travelling story of the 4 main characters.

This is pretty good news to be fair! I just sincerely hope they aren’t the Easter Egg trophies to do again! Having done all of them in Blops 1 and 2 (probably my greatest trophy hunting achievement getting those games to 100%) I don’t think I could take the drama of doing them over.

    • As you say, it’s odd to see this release during Infinite Warfare’s yearly cycle. Perhaps due to the poor sales of Infinite Warfare, which may also be hampered in the same period due to the CoD4 Remaster anyway.

  2. Why? just why? I mean, usually, it’s DLC for the current game. Does this indicate that IW was a failure in the view of Activision or is it just them trying to get more cash out of it?

But why BLOPsIII? That’s what? a game from 2-3 years ago and surely, all support for that ended to focus on the next title. So tis a bit of a odd release.

    • Why? Rearrange these words:

      Rope. Money. Old. For.

      • oooh a game…

        old rope for money.
        old money for rope..
        rope money for old…
        rope old for money..
        think thats it?

  3. Would have loved for it to have included Die Rise, but Ascension and Kino are welcome additions to this gen!
