There’s a problem that every game in the action RPG genre faces at the moment, and that is being compared to Dark Souls. If your game is difficult, if enemies respawn every time you use a save point, if you leave behind puddles of some resource you’re collecting when you die, then you can all to easily be branded a clone.
On the one hand that’s fair enough, there are more than passing similarities, but developers also put a lot of effort in to come up with their own ideas. So here’s six things that make The Surge more than just another Dark Souls “clone”.
