It might not have been Telltale’s best overall effort, but Minecraft: Story Mode was a big success for the company – who would have guessed? – and so it’s coming back for a second season, starting on 11th July.
The game will pick up after the first season and its unusual three episode expansion, taking Jesse and the gang on new adventures to sea temples, cave wonders and rival towns, after he or she gets a hand stuck in a creepy gauntlet. All your decisions from the first season can carry over, but could easily be enjoyed without having played the original. Either way, you’ll meet a temperamental llama.
The voice work of the first season was a standout, and so it’s great to see the return of Patton Oswalt, Catherine Taber, Ashley Johnson, and Scott Porter, as well as cameos from Stampy Cat, stacyplays, and other people that you’ll know if you’re knee deep in Minecraft videos on YouTube.
Episode 1: Hero in Residence will debut on 11th July for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android.
