Metal Gear Survive Release Date Confirmed

Konami has announced that Metal Gear Survive will launch on February 22nd 2018 in Europe, two days after its release in the US. The bizarre spin-off will be available for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with no word on a PC version.

The publisher also revealed a number of preorder bonuses that include various cosmetic options for your in-game character.

Fans have been understandably wary of Survive since it was announced. It’s the first Metal Gear game to launch since series creator Hideo Kojima parted ways with Konami. The focus on horror survival is a complete break from the espionage and intrigues Metal Gear is best known for.

That said, MGS5’s core gameplay was so good that Survive might turn out to be an early sleeper hit in 2018 despite the largely negative feedback it’s received.

  1. No, no, no, no. This looks awful. Please stop or get kojima back Konami.

  2. Yay for pre-order bonuses :)

  3. Like you say Jim the core gameplay this is based on is fantastic, I really loved MGS5 for making getting spotted a lot of fun, often chaotic and murderous but lots of fun! I’d be tempted to try Survive if it turns out to be good but I think Konami should’ve dropped the Metal Gear prefix by now, it’s just aggravating Kojima fans.

  4. Snaaaake! Snaaake! .. in the grass.
