The Death Stranding Trailer From The Game Awards 2017 Still Tells Us Nothing

I’m sure that Death Stranding is meant to be psychological horror, but even after a good seven minute cinematic trailer from The Game Awards last night, it just looks like very well produced incomprehensible nonsense. There’s invisible monsters, gigantic visible monsters, the baby in a jar returns from previous videos and there’s Norman Reedus, though he’s wearing clothes this time. So… great?

Obviously, we’re still at the point where there’s an achingly slow build up of hype and teasers with the mere fact that it’s a Hideo Kojima game as its foundations. Watch the trailer here, but there’s a long way to go and I’ll be more interested when there’s something a bit more tangible to go on.

I'm probably wearing toe shoes, and there's nothing you can do to stop me!

  1. Yep, incomprehensible and crazy, but for some reason I still want more!! This has its claws in me, can’t wait to play the game.

  2. I cant help but think that if this was being made by anyone else other than Kojima it would be forgotten about by now as artsy fartsy nonsense.

  3. Guess we will have to wait until E3 2018 for gameplay.

  4. This will get 9&10’s everywhere because it’s Kojima but will basically be a bit shit.

  5. I cannot wait for this game. Kojima is a genius and to think this new direction was something he had festering in his mind since Snake Eater can only be a good thing. Massively wanting this game.

  6. Whatever about the gameplay i want to watch this movie! Reminds me a little of the Final Fantasy movie with the enemies seemingly occupying a different dimension. That bit where the baby gives the thumbs up from inside him.. that’s got to be the most bizzarely amusing thing i’ve ever seen! :)
