UK Charts 13/01/18: Grand Theft Auto V Is Number One. Again.

The Bryan Adams of video games, Grand Theft Auto V, has climbed back to the top of the UK charts thanks to promotions and January sales. The last time it was at the top of the pile was June 2017 and this week makes the game’s fourteenth week at the top and it’s 223rd week in the charts.

The rest of the top ten, indeed the whole chart, is rather dull with no new entries and a smattering or re-entries lower down the table.

  1. As an avid GTA:Online player with more hours in that game than I like to admit, I welcome all the noob canon fodder. But seriously the amount and quality of free DLC is impressive. The recent Doomsday Heist added a whole load of new content and, while the purchasable stuff is quite expensive, you can take part on all the DLC for free and if you have time to grind, you don’t need to spend any real money.

Sure, they’ve transitioned to a microtransaction model now but in a game that’s 5 years old, that’s fair.

  2. That’s astounding, number one again, what an achievement! It’s also very impressive that Nintendo’s big hitters are still sitting so high up despite remaining full price over the Christmas and January sales.
