Now I know what you’re thinking, Activision can’t be that stupid can they? Let’s take this rumour with a big pinch of salt, but it does come from Charlie Intel who are quite trusted and know their Call of Duty.
So then, the report is that the unannounced Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which was briefly listed by Amazon Italy will not include the multiplayer portion of the game. CharlieIntel say they have seen supporting evidence and “believe this information to be accurate.”
They also say that Raven Software, who remastered MW1, are not working on the port, with Beenox as a possible replacement as they have job listings mentioning the Call of Duty franchise.
It does sound nuts, but the Amazon listing had the game priced at just €19.99 with a release date at the end of April. The price is a lot less than the remastered MW1, and April is a very odd release date until you consider that it would place the game half way between CoD WWII and Black Ops IIII. By not including the MP then Activision avoid cannibalising players from WWII.
So the rumour does sound mad, but does make sense a little. We await an official word from Activision.
