Sega Ages Brings Master System, Mega Drive & Arcade Classics To Nintendo Switch

Sega are doing what Nintendo seem unable to at the moment, relaunching the Sega Ages brand that brought their back catalogue to modern hardware, using it for Nintendo Switch. The programme is set to relaunch this summer, across Japan, North America and Europe, and is set to be the debut for a number of games outside of Japan.

The first five games to be announced include Phantasy Star and Alex Kid in Miracle World from the Master System, while Mega Drive fans will look out for Sonic the Hedgehog (obviously) and Thunder Force IV, and there’s a port of the arcade version of Gain Ground.

The Sega Ages actually debuted all the way back on the Sega Saturn in 1996 in Japan and 1997 in the West, pulling together classic games into collections, and developer M2 will again handle the porting duties to Switch. Nothing else has really been announced, but it’s odd that, when Sega Mega Drive Classics is coming to PS4 and Xbox One in May and bundling tons of Sega games together, Sega Ages will split them up to be sold individually.
