There’s hundreds of PS3 and PS4 games on Sony’s PS Now streaming service, and now they’ve been joined by a clutch of PS2 games. All of these are PS2 Classics, which have been upgraded for PS4 and feature trophies to collect.
- Dark Cloud
- FantaVision
- Rogue Galaxy
- Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits
- Dark Chronicle
- Okage: Shadow King
- Everybody’s Tennis
- Kinetica
- Wild Arms 3
- Primal
- Forbidden Siren
- Ape Escape 2
It’s a move that shouldn’t be terribly surprising, as Sony are likely looking to counter the regular headlines that Microsoft’s backward compatibility and Xbox Game Pass subscription service is getting. PS2 Classics have been on PlayStation 4 for quite some time, using an emulation layer to bump the games up to HD, but they’ve largely been overlooked as Microsoft bang the drum of their much broader backward compatibility efforts.
Additionally, where Xbox Game Pass gets headlines for featuring first party exclusives day and date, PS Now lags quite a bit behind current releases with its PS4 games. There’s doubtless plenty of interest for Sony in having a subscription service add a healthy bottom line to their gaming business, though.
Still, back to today’s PS2 Classics, and I’m sure plenty of you can agree with the first comment on the EU Blog’s post:
Re-release Ape Escape 3 you cowards.

Ahhh, love that first comment on the blog.
Are all these games newly available to PS4, or just PS Now.
Tuffcub
PS Now is only on PS4 so.. yes?
Or do you mean can you play them without PS Now? In which case, no.

It’s on PC too, hence my wording.
I’ll take it as no then. Seems silly to lock these titles behind a paywall and internet connection. Why not release them digitally on the store too. BC done wrong, but the bar has been set high.
