Friday The 13th Is Officially, Totally, Absolutely, Dead

A quick recap: There’s been legal shenanigans regarding who owns the Friday 13th movie and those have now spilled over to the game. All development for new content was stopped but some players asked if it would restart once the legal kerfuffle had been sorted.

“The answer is no,” is the answer posted on the official F13 forums. “Development on games can’t just pause indefinitely and pick back up again; it doesn’t work that way. Especially when you have no idea when that future date will occur. We can’t keep building content that may never see the light of day. That’s bad business.”

Although that’s not the news fans wanted it does make business sense. But what about non F13 content, surly they could add characters and elements that are nothing to do with the movies?

“We can’t do that either. We can’t add any content, whatsoever. Nada. Not even a new tree or rock. We can only focus on console dedicated servers, bug fixes, and maintenance,” states the post.

Rather like one of Jason’s victims, Friday the 13th has been cut down in it’s prime and will never be resurrected.
