Sony Clean Up The Game Critic Best Of E3 Awards

The Game Critics Awards have been announced for E3 2018, this is about as official an answer we will get to ‘Who won E3?’ and it’s Sony. They snagged six awards, EA got four, Microsoft bagged three, CD Projeckt Red picked up two, and Sega, Nintendo and others picked up just one.

If we look at which platform the wining games are on, Sony also topped the chart.

  • PlayStation 4: 17 (+5 from 2017)
  • Xbox One: 12 (+6 from 2017)
  • PC: 10 (+1 from 2017)
  • Switch: 4 (-1 from 2017)

The games had to be playable at the show which is why Death Stranding and other big titles are missing from the list. If you missed any of the announcements you can use our handy Everything From E3 guide. Here are the awards:

  1. More interesting, considering MS made a big deal of dozens of games (and not many exclusives), is counting exclusives.

    Sony – 7
MS – 1 (and that’s a controller for a limited audience, although they deserve an award for that)
    PC – 1
    Switch – 1

If you count Tetris Effect as a PSVR only game (since it got an award for VR, even though it’s not VR only, is it?), then PSVR as a platform wins as many awards as MS. Even though it’s apparently a massive failure ;)

    • I assume you are using the actual definition of an “exclusive” when working this out, not one of Microsofts many definitions :) “Console Exclusive” “Console Launch Exclusive” etc :)

      • Given that MS blatantly lie about exclusives anyway, does it really matter? Unless that specifically say it’s timed, it may or may not be exclusive for anywhere between a month and the end of time.

  2. Is this where we’re at now? A remake of a 20 year old game won best of show?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m in love with the look of it and excited for it but that doesn’t sit right with me.
