Ubisoft Provide An Extended Look At Far Cry: New Dawn Gameplay

Further details have emerged about Ubisoft’s post-apocalyptic spin on Far Cry. But first:

OK. That’s out of the way now, so let’s get to the meaty bits.

New Dawn is set seventeen years after the events of Far Cry 5 which, depending on the ending you picked, had a nuke going off in the distance. Clearly, things are pretty chaotic and the development team are eager to use this new setting as opportunity to ”go a little crazy and have fun”.

Here’s the trailer, with lots of new gameplay footage and details of the characters and the game world they inhabit:

The game retains the two player co-op of Far Cry 5, but has been transformed by ‘superbloom’ fields and evolved predators. You’ll still be in Hope County, which might see some of the doomsday cult still running around, as well as a few familiar characters in the Guns and Fangs for Hire system.

A new base building mechanics has been introduced, with a community to grow over time and eight facilities to build up. These are: the workbench, training camp, explosives lab, infirmary, garage, healing garden, cartography, and expeditions.

The way that you progress won’t just be to capture territory, but through scavenging Highwaymen outposts. They’ll return to the outposts, bringing stronger troops that you can tackle in order to earn more valuable resources. However, you’ll break out of Hope Country on Expeditions to different parts of the country, including wetlands, canyons and the coast. Each playthrough will have different Expeditions and Outposts to tackle.

Farcry: New Dawn launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on February 15, 2019.
