Lost Planet series, Resident Evil – Code: Veronica X now Xbox One backwards compatible

Microsoft continues to build its list of backwards compatible games for Xbox One, adding four new Capcom titles to the current roster. Director of Programming, Larry Hryb, took to Twitter to announce that Lost Planet, Lost Planet Colonies, Lost Planet 2, and Lost Planet 3 are now playable on Xbox One.

The original Lost Planet was a early favourite on Xbox 360, combining arcade-style shooting with survival elements as players battled across a frozen wasteland. Lost Planet 2 (our review) tightened that formula with a larger focus on online co-op and competitive multiplayer. Some years later this was followed by Lost Planet 3 (our review), a westernised prequel to the first game developed by Spark Unlimited.

Hryb also revealed that Resident Evil – Code: Veronica X is playable on Xbox One, too. Released in 2011, this entry in the popular survival horror franchise is an HD revamp of the 2000 original.

None of the games added to the backwards compatibility list are Xbox One enhanced though, as comparison videos will show, some games added will benefit from certain performance upgrades. You can find a full list of backwards compatible titles here.

  1. Great to see Code Veronica is finally back compat. Shame it hasn’t been discounted to celebrate the fact however. I love the game but £14.99 is a little steep considering how many times I’ve purchased it on other systems…
