A new series on BBC Radio 6 Music will explore the evolution of music in video games from the bleepy single channel ditties of the 8 bit era to the full orchestral soundtracks found in in the games of today. It also reveals that the video games industry has thrown a life line to the classical orchestras of Europe who now spend a lot of their time recording music for our pleasure.
The series includes discussions with Winifred Phillips (God Of War, Little Big Planet) and The Flight (Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Horizon: Zero Dawn) with the first episode featuring Yoko Shimomura (Street Fighter II), Grant Kirkhope (Goldeneye) and Bafta-winner Jessica Curry (Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture).
You can find the first episode here, the second episode will follow on March 10th. There’s also a companion program in which Charlie Brooker chooses his favourite video game soundtracks, you can find that one here.

Nice one. Big fan of 6, by far best radio station in the country. Shall download these for a good listen whilst on the road.
